Entrepreneurs never just create a business – they always need to create a brand at the same time. Even more today, the symbolic meaning, the brand’s purpose and story are not just a nice add-on, but in many cases the central idea of a new business. They are closely intertwined: building a business also means building a brand. And building a brand is about developing brand identity. The Brand-Building Canvas therefore brings together all aspects of business modelling frameworks (e.g. the Business Model Canvas by Osterwalder & Pigneur) and the major brand identity planning models – and can be used both to analyze and to plan a business model and a brand’s identity.
